ART
Merging intuition,
emotion, and
experience into expression
Materials, color, and texture serve as metaphors for the unseen inner world. Creating art, for me,
is like exploring an unknown landscape,
immersing in the experience, and becoming familiar with the terrain.
Each finished piece is a visceral expression of that journey.

artist statement
My life’s interest is the human experience.
Early in my career, I sought clarity in the rigid lines and defined edges of architectural modernism, drawing from my architectural training to shape my understanding of balance, proportion, and beauty. These structural elements guided my ideas, but soon I became acutely aware of the dissonance between my soul and the built world. The confines of modernism couldn't contain the depth of human emotion. I realized that the most intricate architectural environment is not the physical world, but the world of human emotion. When balance, proportion, and beauty are applied to this inner landscape, we discover self-acknowledgment, connection to others, and a deeper anchoring in the world.
In my work, I explore three interconnected aspects of humanity: emotion, nature, and the witness—each influencing the other in profound ways. The concepts of boundary and containment are suspended. By dissolving the barriers between human and environment, artist and observer, each painting becomes an emotional expanse, inviting the viewer to journey inward before being drawn back outward into the world.
As I navigate my own emotional complexities, I seek to create a visual language that resonates with the human experience, illuminating connections that transcend words and structure. My paintings challenge the notion that we are disconnected from ourselves, from each other, or from the natural world.
My creative process is a meditation that unfolds over multiple sessions—equally intuitive and premeditated. I begin with swift, instinctive strokes of acrylic paint, cutting through the noise and dissonance of the external world. As an emotion surfaces, it becomes the central thesis of the painting. I delve into the common threads that link the inner world of feeling to the outer world of nature, building a moment where these parallels converge. Layer by layer, with paint, texture, and intuition, the emotional expression expands beyond the edges of the canvas, reaching out to include the witness standing before it. And in that moment, we stand together, sharing the same space.
